Why banning kids from social media might do more harm than good

It could be futile trying to ban teenagers from social media platforms that are their chief means of communicating. Far better to make them more resilient through education.

As a cybersecurity professional and mother of an 18-year-old son, I am against the proposed social media bans.

Some people of a certain age are ignorant of how social media has embedded itself into our kids’ daily lives. They don’t text or talk to each other on their mobile in the traditional way; they message each other or use the video call function on apps.
