Having made their careers out of knowing the minds of consumers, Coles chief executive Leah Weckert and Woolworths boss Amanda Bardwell would know their fight with the ACCC over dodgy discount claims is already over when it comes to the court of public opinion.

Let’s be honest. Very few time-poor, cash-poor shoppers will be watching how this battle goes down in the Federal Court.
