Washington | US President Joe Biden has assured president-elect Donald Trump of an orderly transition of power in a “gracious and substantive” White House meeting that covered international security and domestic policy issues and near-term government funding.

In a marathon two-hour meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), Mr Biden welcomed Trump and offered him congratulations, saying he looked forward to “a smooth transition”, something not offered by his successor in 2020.
