As the Albanese government prepares to throw billions of dollars at its signature Made in Australia scheme, there is no agreed definition on what makes an Australian business.

Rupert Taylor-Price and his Canberra-based company Vault Cloud have been facing a dilemma about where best to domicile the rapidly growing high-security data centre business.
“If I go and deal with the US government, which we do have some dealings with at the moment, they will not accept engaging an Australian company,” says the firm’s founder and chief executive.
