Telco groups protest state ‘profiteering’ from antennas

Telecommunications companies are pushing NSW to scrap fees for adding antennas and other equipment to mobile towers, claiming the state is “profiteering” from tens of millions of dollars in unnecessary charges.

NSW’s Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has been reviewing rents charged to companies that build or use communication towers at sites on Crown land, which is managed by the state government on behalf of the public.
