Steven Hamilton takes issue with Treasury Secretary Steven Kennedy on three points (“Labor should have fought inflation like it did the GFC”).

Firstly, he disagrees that fiscal policy has done anything to moderate demand pressures, citing spending figures. But fiscal policy can also affect demand through the revenue side. The budget has been in surplus for two years.
