Markets bet on drastic cuts after NZ slashes rates

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand slashed interest rates by a hefty half-a-percentage point on Wednesday and kept the door open for more as the country’s economy weakens.
The move, which sent the New Zealand dollar tumbling to a seven-week low, sits in sharp contrast to the central bank’s Australian counterpart, which is still in wait-and-see mode on its interest rate outlook.
