You have to love politicians like Treasurer Jim Chalmers. He will take all the credit when the numbers look good but, like Pontius Pilate, he washes his hands of the unsavoury business. Now it’s the business sector’s fault, and only they can lead the recovery (“Recovery up to business: treasurer”).

Let’s be honest. Government does not create jobs (except public service ones) or build an economy. All it does is create an environment or provide incentives for business to operate.
