Herbert Smith Freehills has been left scrambling after one of the firm’s partners posted what it called a “deeply offensive” tweet, which led to meetings with Jewish clients and staff.

At the centre of it is a post from M&A partner Damien Hazard published at the end of last week. The tweet came after the attack on the Melbourne synagogue, replying to comments made by Jeremy Leibler, lawyer at Arnold Bloch Leibler and the president of the Zionist Federation of Australia.
