Sydney home sellers are slashing their asking prices by around $13,000 on average as total listings pile up to their highest level in nearly six years, data from SQM Research shows.

Home owners in Melbourne are also shaving $7200 off their prices on average to lure buyers amid stiff competition from other vendors.
