Japan court jails Perth grandmother for drug trafficking

Tokyo | Former Green’s candidate Donna Nelson has been sentenced to six years in prison by Japan’s Chiba District Court after being found guilty of importing methamphetamine in a suitcase her lawyers argued stemmed from an elaborate romance scam.

Ms Nelson, 58, was convicted of importing 1.9 kilograms of methamphetamine through Narita International Airport in January 2023. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday and includes a 1 million yen ($10,000) fine.
