The federal government’s science agency has shot down criticism of its findings that building a nuclear energy industry would be too expensive and slow, in a new report that directly challenges Peter Dutton’s signature energy policy.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s latest update on the cost of meeting the nation’s future power needs comes as the opposition leader is expected this week to release the long-awaited full costings of his nuclear policy.
