The federal Liberal Party is planning a major push into Victoria in the belief it can secure up to five seats at the next election, helped by the brand damage being inflicted on Labor by the flailing state government.

If Peter Dutton is to have any chance of forming government next year, he needs to lift the Coalition’s standing in Victoria where it holds just 10 of the state’s 39 federal seats. Of these, the Liberal Party holds just seven.
